For the last few years my friend has been telling me “you’ve got to log onto ns4life” and finally…I did.  However, I was not impressed—I enjoyed the videos, I thought he was extremely creative, I enjoyed the “making of Cassie” and everything Ryan Leslie was made of.  He’s a super producer and I knew it. Yet, I didn’t like the over saturation of the NS4Life…lifestyle shoved down my throat.

 

Now, don’t get me wrong.  He had lots of fans, people logged in everyday.  I even got the chance to interview him and to me…he was a genius, having attended Harvard at the age of 15.  Ryan Leslie has always been ahead of his time.

 

I was introduced to Ryan a few years ago when he made his debut showcase for “The Talented Mr. Leslie” a cd which was a compilation of all his hits.  He performed at BB Kings in New York and to me, he looked like a guy trying too hard to be Ralph Tresvant.

 

I wasn’t into him and my friend? Sold!  I wasn’t…until I heard Diamond Girl, and I thought…after bopping my head that this guy is making a hit…for himself…finally!

I loved it and Addiction was next [and] I was in.  My friend? Telling me “I told you so!”

I received his CD in the mail, simply titled Ryan Leslie and I must admit that it’s on replay.  My absolute favorite is Valentine, with I-R-I-N-A closely behind.

 

Here are a few of my favorites:

You’re Fly: Baby you’re fly…is a chant heard through out the track as his singing skips over the beat: “I-Want-You” for example is broken over the beat leading into Baby You’re Fly…which is a song that you can be sure to sing throughout the day.

 

Out of the Blue: I grew up in the New Edition era…feels like “I’m Leaving you Again” but I also think there’s a rap jingle somewhere within the piano tune.  It’s still boggling my mind! Second to that, he spills his heart to a girl who left out of the blue asking “what would you do if I left you out of the blue? Would it feel sick and lonely…that’s what you did to me.”

 

Why I love Valentine: It’s just in time for February, however, it has a slick beat that rides a funky wave.  At first beat, he grabs you and never lets go…and the lyrics…perfect for that special Valentine, although in this song, the Valentine is not his girl, but he croons: “I swear I got a Love Jones.”

 

Why I love I-R-I-N-A: It feels like something I heard before.  It reminds me of driving on the coast with the top down and my hair blowing in the wind.  The lyrics are soothing and sung so innocently… “I may not speak your language, but I know just what to say.” Who needs a language barrier when the chemistry is there?

 

Why I love Ryan Leslie’s CD: It’s HOT and admirable to see a perfect gentleman work so hard to make his dream come true.  He was on the pulse of the internet generation and like always, way ahead of his time, so far ahead that it took me sometime to catch up to him. I’m happy I finally did because now, I can truly enjoy his cd!

Washington Redskins Jordan history,
Miami Dolphins will recognize that this is the

MLB Jerseys original colorway in which the
Arizona Diamondbacks Jordan 9 was released back in 1993.

Boston Red Sox by making white and black the
Chicago Cubs focus and leaving red as the accent.
