More Than BeatsCrème caught up with artist David E. Beats; he discusses his different talents of being a rapper, producer and guitar player along with resonating with his fan base through his music.
Crème Magazine: Where are you originally from?
David E. Beats: I am originally from Washington DC.
Crème Magazine: So tell everyone out there about the multi talented David E. Beats
David E. Beats: David E Beats is a self-sufficient music making machine! His sole mission in life is to produce great music that anyone can relate to! He plays guitar, raps, produces, dances, sings, whatever it takes to
fulfill his mission.
Crème Magazine: How long have you been rapping/producing/and playing the guitar?
David E. Beats: Rapping started around age 14, when I listened to Jay-Z's The Blueprint. I started producing at 17 and playing guitar at 20. It was a progression, one that happened as my tastes in music and style grew!
Crème Magazine: As an Indie artist what are some ways you promote yourself and get
your music out to the masses?
David E. Beats: I don't promote, actually. I'm not an indie artist, I am an artist looking for a major label deal. The only people I am concerned with impressing are the people that will sign my checks.
Crème Magazine: What are some singles that you've released that are getting some good feedback?
David E. Beats: "Over Here" has been doing pretty well online, and the rock version sits well live. "Maybe Tomorrow's" video and song seem to resonate well within my audience and the rock version of Walk In has Top 40 written all over it. I am generally using the net and these live shows as a product test of sorts.
Crème Magazine: Are you looking to get a deal with a major label?
David E. Beats: Of course! Why wouldn't I?
Crème Magazine: How would you describe your sound?
David E. Beats: I would describe my sound as one word : Amazing.
Crème Magazine: What advice would you give to other indie artists that are trying to
get their music out there?
David E. Beats: The only advice I can give is, as Kelly Cutrone put it, "Be relentlessly you!" Build a strong team and gain enough courage to test the waters that is your dream!
Crème Magazine: Where do you see yourself musically in the next 5 years?
David E. Beats: In 5 years, I will probably be going platinum...for the 2nd time!
Crème Magazine: Where can we purchase your music and find out about your upcoming shows?
