Kevin Hart LiveKevin Hart will be performing for the first time in Long Island at the Capital One Bank Theatre in Westbury.
We spoke to the producers of the show, Jean Alerte and Jeffrey Gurian about whom else will be performing alongside Kevin Hart, and the logistics of putting together a comedy show.
Crème Magazine: Tell us about your company Alerte, Carter & Associates?
Jean Alerte: Alerte, Carter & Associates is a boutique management and public relations firm. Headquartered in New York, the firm is known for implementing creative and customized media programs designed to impact a client's specific business goals and objectives. Our mission is simple: to help our clients realize their vision.
Crème Magazine: Who are some people your company represents?
JA: I personally manage two very talented actors: Anthony L. Gurino and Alexis Diaz. My firm represents a full spectrum of businesses and individuals. Take a look at some of our past and present clients at www.acaunited.com
Crème Magazine: How did you get involved in producing this comedy show with Kevin Hart?
JA: I always had a passion for entertaining groups of people. After ten years of putting on events, I decided I wanted to take my career to the next level. I've been watching Kevin Hart since "Paper Soldiers," "Death of a Dynasty," "Fool's Gold," etc. I think he's a great comedian and actor. I wanted to be the first person to bring him to Long Island to perform. Then I met comedy writer/producer Jeffrey Gurian, who has been in the business for many years and has tons of relationships in the comedy world. As soon as we met, we clicked and decided to become partners. It's a great mix. You can say Jeffrey and I made history, and hopefully will continue to do so.
Crème Magazine: What other comics will be featured at this show?
JA: There are two other acts from New York performing opening night. Award-winning Haitian comedian, Wil Sylvince and television/film star, Tony Rock. This show is truly going to be great!
Crème Magazine: Can we expect future comedy shows or events from you in the future?
JA: After this show we plan on producing three to four more comedy shows this year.
Crème Magazine: How long have you been doing comedy?
Jeffrey Gurian: I have been doing comedy for longer than I care to admit. But my comedy career has brought me into contact with so many legends, and I am very grateful for that. All you have to do is to look at my website to see what I mean. When I started I didn't know one person in show business. It just proves that you can accomplish anything you set out to do if you work hard, believe in yourself and put that "intention" out to "The Universe."
Your readers may be glad to know that I was honored as part of Black History Month at Hunter College in New York, along with Danny Simmons, (Russell's brother), for creating comedy workshops for disadvantaged adults and inner city kids.
Crème Magazine: What's the process of putting together an extensive comedy show like this?
JG: It's actually very complicated. First you have to find a venue that trusts you to pull off something so huge, especially since this is our first event together, (Jean and I), and also because of the size of the venue. The Capital One Bank Theatre at Westbury holds 2,800 people. So it was to our credit that they researched us and gave us the go-ahead. Then we reached out to talent and through my long term comedy connections, we got signed contracts from the three performers. Then Jean's marketing and PR skills came into play. He is an absolute beast when it comes to marketing and promotion, and it definitely helps that everyone he meets likes him.
Crème Magazine: What can we expect from this comedy show this February?
JG: We can expect an amazing show. It's Kevin's first time in Long Island, and he will definitely knock it out of the park. Tony Rock, who you know from both television and film, and Wil Sylvince who has been winning awards for being an up-and-coming, comedian will take the show to even higher levels. And once we sell this show out, which we will, you will see many more shows from the team of Jean Alerte and Jeffrey Gurian. We are definitely good together.

Crème Magazine: You're producing a documentary film with Chris Rock for the 35th anniversary of The Comic Strip. Can you provide our readers with an update about the film?
JG: We are working on a trailer and have already filmed many of the big stars who came out of the club, as well as a few of the rising stars who are just appearing there now. Just last night we shot footage for CBS development people and International Creative Management (ICM) agents who came to The Strip to see the new talent for possible television shows.
We have also already gotten offers to show the film in Aspen and Montreal at the two big comedy festivals there, just because of who they know will be in it. This project, being shot by Emmy Award-winning Letterbox Pictures, is one of the most exciting things I've ever been involved with, and I've been involved with some pretty exciting things. Part of the proceeds from the ticket sales of the Kevin Hart Comedy show this month will be donated to Haiti. Jeffrey and Jean have partnered up with Haitian nightlife impresario Unik Ernest who founded Edeyo http://www.edeyo.org which is a charity that is dedicated to educating the poor children of Haiti.
