Two great destinations to travel while giving back to local communities and charitable partnerships.

We’ve all read the headlines about community charitable partnerships, service and helping others in need.  This was brought to the forefront with the recent travesties in Haiti and Chile.

What a beautiful concept to be able to explore the world and at the same time give back.  Let’s explore Philanthropy through travel.  Amazing off-the-beaten path to destinations in Argentina and Ponte Do Ganchos (the south of Brazil).

Faena Hotel + Universe opened the doors to a new way of travel where guests are able to experience the local culture, combined with a creative center that represents the best of Buenos Aires.  How about this twist, there is no reception desk.  Upon check-in you will be greeted by your “Experience Manager” who serves as your butler, concierge and personal assistant. During the day you may wish to retreat to the warmth of a hamman (Faena’s Turkish-style steam bath) followed by a dip in the pool while enjoying fresh fruit juice at the pool bar.  In the evening, El Cabaret provides an intimate setting for the best Tango show in town (Rojo Tango).

Philanthropy – Faena created the Laboratory of Artistic Experimentation (LEA) to support the creative development of its artists and researchers through grants and awards programs.  The LEA selects artists to create specific projects with various communities of the Faena Art District.

Philanthropy – Giving back to the community is deeply ingrained in the Brazilian culture (a guiding philosophy “teach a man how to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime”.  In addition to being one of the largest employers in the City of Governador Celso Ramos, all seafood and produce is purchased from local vendors.  They also encourage employees to further their education and to learn a second language (by contributing 70 percent toward school tuition).

 

Giving back is definitely the new “sexy.”  When searching for destinations for travel this year, research to see if your travels will allow you a wonderful time of exploration and relaxation, but most importantly and opportunity to pour into another life.
